Chipping Norton racer, Alice Powell, has been named in the Top 50 Female Rising Stars in sport for 2015. She was shortlisted by the WeAreTheCity.com, a free careers platform for women. Over 340 entries were judged.
The 22 year-old BRDC Rising Star has had limited racing this year, due to lack of sponsorship. In April she raced for Aston Martin in the 24 Hours of Silverstone, alongside Aston Martin CEO Andy Palmer, finishing 4th in class. Apart from that, this is the only racing Powell has done this year.
The ex- Cotwolds School student has still been busy in the sport, running her own team in the Formula Kart Stars Championship, having female drivers only. She is now also mentoring and coaching another talented up and coming young female, Bryony King.
Speaking about the award, Alice said “It is an absolute honour to be named in such a list. I have not done as much racing this year, but to still be named in the list is amazing. I would like to thank WeAreTheCity for the shortlist and all the fantastic support from everyone on twitter. I hope to sort out some more racing for this year, leading to a full season drive in 2016.”
The awards will be given out at the House of Lords next week.
